Regarding frequently asked questions, yes, this portafilter does fit the ECP3120 model. However, it is not compatible with the EC190 model. The package includes a 2-shot stainless steel filter basket, which comes with the portafilter.
It is important to note that leaking and splattering, referred to as "espresso channeling," are extremely common occurrences and not a defect of the portafilter itself. This issue is an indication that your coffee preparation process can be improved, such as adjusting the grind size, dosage, distribution, and tamping pressure. We suggest the following steps to address this:
- Try grinding the coffee a bit finer.
- Ensure the correct amount of coffee is being used.
- Utilize a distributor tool to create a well-leveled coffee puck for even pressing.
- Apply sufficient and even pressure during tamping.
If the portafilter does not fit properly or leaks, we recommend trying to push it further to the right to seal it, as the original locking point is typically around the 6 o'clock position, while the bottomless portafilter may need to be turned to the 4/5 o'clock position.
